Sunday Post: Almost the end of summer

Sunday-Post

Kimberly hosts the Sunday Post each week. I like to take part because it gives me an opportunity to look back at last week and forward to next week in both my personal life and my blog and book life! I also love to see what other people are doing and what books everyone is reading.

Personal life

It’s hard to believe summer is almost over. Especially since the weather is so hot right now and will be even hotter next week with several days in the 90’s (and heat index in the low 100’s). Schools have already begun here which is hard for me to believe since I didn’t go back to school when I was a child until the first part of September.

I’m doing a Sunday Post for the first time since we moved into our house in mid-May. We’ve been busy, but sometimes especially in the first month after our move I kept losing track of what day of the week it was and would discover I’d missed another post–even when I had posts complete.

Things are better now though we’re still unpacking a few boxes and looking for things that we still haven’t found. This week I needed to look for clothes a little dressier than what I’ve been wearing all summer. I finally put together something I can wear though I didn’t find the clothes I was looking for. Maybe I donated them before we moved since I got rid of some of my clothes!

We are loving our new house. We’ve gotten pictures on the walls, decided where the furniture is going to be put and got rid of more stuff that didn’t quite find a home in our new house. We can get one of our cars in our two car garage! Our cat Olaf settled in after a day or two of hiding. He loves running on our carpetless floors and then sliding on them–sometimes into a wall! That doesn’t stop him. He also loves hiding in boxes or an empty laundry basket and then jumping out to surprise us!

We’ve done some traveling and have more planned plus we’re doing things with our family that lives in the area. We’re trying to do things outside though with the high temperatures at the moment that’s harder to do. The local weather forecast mentions how long it takes to get sunburned if you’re in the sun and it’s been only 20 minutes. So we’ll probably stay home more until it’s a little cooler.

Blog

I’ve been absent from my blog since we moved in to our new house. I’m hoping to write more regularly, though as I mentioned above we’re going to be gone several times in the near future so I may miss more Sunday Posts. I will try to get some other posts scheduled. I plan to visit blogs today and I hope to catch up on some of the blogs I follow.

Sunday Post: Unpacking boxes & rearranging furniture

Connecting with others to talk about books plus a little about our personal lives

Personal life

We’ve moved into our new house and it’s beautiful. We’ve unpacked a lot of boxes, rearranged furniture numerous times and mostly have things put away in the kitchen so it’s all coming together. Next week I’ll try to have some pictures.

However, our daughter who lives in the area is on vacation for three weeks so we’re taking care of her dogs. We don’t have a fenced yard at our new house so we’re traveling back and forth between her house and our house each day. We’re looking forward to moving in completely by mid June.

Blog Life

I’ve been absent from my blog since we moved in to our new house. I’m hoping next week I’ll have time and energy to spend working some on my blog and visiting other blogs.

Sunday Post: Moving along

Connecting with others to talk about books plus a little about our personal lives

Sunday-Post

Kimberly hosts the Sunday Post each week. I like to take part because it gives me an opportunity to look back at last week and forward to next week in both my personal life and my blog and book life! I also love to see what other people are doing and what books everyone is reading.

Personal life

We are in the final stretch for getting our house on the market on April 2. Our two cats and I are in Illinois with my older daughter so my husband is in charge of getting the yard and house ready. It sounds like he’s doing a great job getting the final details done. My cat is still sick. Apparently it takes a lot of time for the pancreas to heal. We’re still not sure she will get better. I think the next week will tell us more.

New house

The first picture is taken from what will be our driveway. So this is the view we’ll have from the front of our house. I love sunsets! And we’ll have sunrises to see out the back of the house.

The second picture is the front of our house. We finally have a firm move-in date of mid-May. The builders are moving ahead quickly.

Blog Life

Not much on my blog the last couple of weeks. With getting together what I need for the next couple of months, nursing my sick cat, moving to my daughter’s for about six weeks it’s been hectic. At least I’m fully vaccinated now. And I hope I’ll have time to visit more blog friends.

Sunday Post: I’m back again!

Sunday-Post

Kimberly hosts the Sunday Post each week. I like to take part because it gives me an opportunity to look back at last week and forward to next week in both my personal life and my blog and book life! I also love to see what other people are doing and what books everyone is reading.

Home

My husband and I drove to Indiana this last week where one of our daughter’s has moved. She sold her house in Iowa at the end of June (on the first day it was listed for sale!) so she bought a house in Indiana and signed the paperwork for it this week. My husband and I brought some of the things she had left at our house (including her two Labrador Retrievers!). Bailey and Juneau were so happy to see her!

Once the house was hers we painted her bedrooms, a hallway and living room. She wanted to get them painted before her household goods get delivered (next Thursday or Friday). I’m going to stay here in Indiana through next weekend and then meet up with my husband in eastern Iowa where he is working to get a house ready to sell.

Television

I didn’t watch any television this last week since my daughter didn’t get her internet connected until late in the week plus she doesn’t have a TV since her household goods aren’t here yet.

Blog

I haven’t done a Sunday Post for several months. I struggled earlier this year to get blog posts (especially reviews) written. I think I’m getting a handle on my review books so I’m happy about that. I’ve started just writing a few sentences for some of the books I read. So far that seems to work okay.

Since I’m travelling sometime next weekend I’m not sure I will get to do a Sunday Post and then the next week I won’t have internet for part of the week. I’m going to try to have some posts scheduled.

Bout of Books 10 Goals

bout-of-books-10I signed up for Bout of Books 10 before my daughter asked me to come to Iowa and help her move into her new house. Thus, I haven’t had a chance to join challenges or twitter chats. The only thing I’ve done is some reading and listening to an audiobook! My daughter doesn’t have internet yet at her new house and I’ve been there putting in shelf paper

White Night
White Night

and waiting for people to show up for TV service and carpet cleaning. Thus, for now I will just give my reading goals:

  • White Night by Jim Butcher
  • The Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley (audiobook)
  • Au Revoir, Crazy European Chick by Joe Schreiber
  • The Iron Night by M. L. Brennan

I doubt I will get all this read or listened to, but I’ll try…LOL! Check out the Bout of Books blog for a list of other people who have posted their goals.
