Sunday Post: An anniversary

Connecting with others to talk about books plus a little about our personal lives

Kimberly hosts the Sunday Post each week. I like to take part because it gives me an opportunity to look back at last week and forward to next week in both my personal life and my blog and book life! I also love to see what other people are doing and what books everyone is reading.

Personal life

It’s been cold and often windy this week and we’ve had a few snow flurries, but no snow on the ground. We’ve warmed up this weekend to the 30’s, but the temperature is going to drop during the day today and we’ll be very cold again for a few days.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary this week by going to a hotel in our local area for one night. It was low-key, but we had a really nice time and the view from our room was great.

The cats

I added a photo of Olaf from about two years ago when he was a kitten and one of Blaze at about the same age. They look quite different. Olaf is a blue point ragdoll and Blaze is a seal point. (Of course, Blaze also has a white blaze on the middle of his face!) The full color of ragdoll cats can continue to change until they’re three or four years old.

I read three books this week, but two of the books I didn’t enjoy very much. I started out enjoying them, but by the end of the books I just wanted to be done with them. They both depressed me. Luckily, the third book–Killer Queen by Julie Mulhern–is part of a mystery series I love. So I’m feeling better about the start of the year.

Even though I wrote some posts last week I didn’t visit many blogs. I hope to visit more next week. I always like to see what people are doing and what they’re reading.

  1. Happy Anniversary! We went to a local hotel to us one year for our anniversary and I would love to do it again. Getting away without having to go far. I am glad you had a nice time! I love the kitty pictures! I didn’t include any this week of mine, but hopefully next week. I am glad you enjoyed Killer Queen. I have been wanting to read something by Julie Mulhern for awhile now. I am sorry your other two books this past week were disappointing. I hope you have a great week this week! Happy reading!

    1. Thanks! I haven’t read any of Julie Mulhern’s other series, but can definitely recommend The Country Club series. l think the other two books were fine. I just wasn’t in the mood to read the books right now. I usually don’t keep reading when I don’t like a book, but I was close to finishing them. I plan to be a little choosier choosing what I’m going to read.

  2. Happy Anniversary! I’m glad you had a nice outing. We just aren’t going out now if we can help it. I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy Deep into the Dark; it was rather dark. I sort of had to read because I had the next one in the series for review. But I thought it was ok.
It’s colder here but not like there. It’s actually getting up to 60 today before the rain so it will be nice for walking this afternoon.

Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post

    1. Thanks, Anne! I think Deep into the Dark was an okay book. I guess I’m a little stressed so parts of the book really got to me. 😦

  3. Happy Anniversay:)). How lovely that you were able to get away – the views are impressive! And the cats look adorable… I notice you have a Connie Willis book that I haven’t had the pleasure of reading – I must get hold of that, as she is one of my favourite authors. Thank you for swinging by, Jan – I appreciate it.
