Kimberly hosts the Sunday Post each week. I like to take part because it gives me an opportunity to look back at last week and forward to next week in both my personal life and my blog and book life! I also love to see what other people are doing and what books everyone is reading.
Personal life
Cold and rainy here today. However, I don’t mind a rainy day every so often. Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny. I like that the weather here is often different from day-to-day.
Sunday cooking with my daughter

My daughter and I cooked together last Sunday afternoon. I wanted to try two desserts to decide if I would make one or both for Thanksgiving dinner. Both had cranberries in them and I liked both of them–Nantucket Cranberry Cake and Rich Harvest Fruit Pie. These recipes came from the King Arthur Baking Company website–my favorite site for baking recipes as well as shopping for baking accessories!
Ultimately I’ve decided that most of the family don’t like cranberries as much as I do plus I’m making quite a few other things for Thanksgiving. I may make one of these desserts for our family Christmas.
My daughter wanted to make corn chowder and ham and cheese muffins that she remembered me making when she was a teenager. When she was in high school she took a thermos of the chowder and muffins with her on cold fall days and evenings when her marching band practiced.
We had lots of fun making our food and helping each other. My husband and I and our daughter had dinner together when we finished cooking and baking and then we sent her home with part of the food! Everything was very good!
Thanksgiving prep II
I worked on more prep for Thanksgiving this last week–mostly cleaning, putting things away and cooking. Our son is flying in on Tuesday evening with his dog (a mini dachshund) so we’ve made sure to get the guest bedroom ready.
I still have my wild rice pilaf to make and I have to cook the two turkeys. I’ll be doing the two turkeys Thursday morning while the relatives are at our house for brunch. However, our family is quite relaxed and I’ll have a lot of help with the turkeys!
Blog
A busy week again with Thanksgiving plans moving forward so I didn’t get too much done blog-wise. I did visit a few blogs last week and plan to try and visit others this week.

What are you doing this next week?
Well I love cranberries as much as you do! And nuts – I want nuts in muffins, pies, cookies, cakes, etc and nobody likes them as much as me. Something we all agree on here though is use twice as much garlic as the recipe! I’ll have to check out both recipes. I hope you have a really lovely holiday with family!

I love cranberries!!!! I looked at the recipe and it says chopped cranberries but it looks like you left yours whole? I think I would leave mine whole, too. I want to get a big old pop of cranberry. lol
Cooking with your daughter sounds fun and the ham & cheese chowder and muffins look deeeeeeeeeeeeeeelicious!
As for me, my Thanksgiving grocery shopping is done and now I need to figure out when I need to do what. lol
Happy Thanksgiving!!!
