Sunday Post: Mid October

Connecting with others to talk about books plus a little about our personal lives

Kimberly hosts the Sunday Post each week. I like to take part because it gives me an opportunity to look back at last week and forward to next week in both my personal life and my blog and book life! I also love to see what other people are doing and what books everyone is reading.

Personal life

Finally, some true Autumn weather! The temperature this morning was a little below 40 degrees! Coldest temps since mid May.

My daughter took her dogs for a walk this week to enjoy the Autumn weather.

Short trip to Michigan

This next week my daughters and I are taking a short trip to southern Michigan along Lake Michigan for an Autumn break. I think it will be so much fun. We’re staying on a small farm in an airbnb. There will be chances to go on walks and spend time learning more about the area.

My cardmaking

I’ve been working on cards for family and friends. So much fun to make cards again. I still have some organizing to get done in my craft room, but when I want to make cards I can do so. I’m hoping to make fall and Halloween cards this next week and also get started on Thanksgiving and Christmas cards. I always mean to make Christmas cards throughout the year, but it doesn’t usually happen!

Partial picture of Olaf this week

That’s Olaf almost totally underneath a recliner! (He weighs 15 pounds, but he was squeezing himself under.) I thought he was after one of his toys, but when I moved the chair a big spider ran out with Olaf in pursuit.

I forgot to post my Can’t Wait Wednesday last week even though it was ready. I’ve decided to schedule as many of my posts as I can so I don’t keep forget about them.

  1. Your weather sounds lovely. Ours is still fluctuating- hot for a few days then cool then back to hot. Crazy! Hope you have a nice week😁

    1. I’m loving our new house as we get more settled in, Anne. I love to see how the changing seasons changes the sun and light that comes in. That’s always something I like seeing in the first couple of years in a new house.

  2. It’s finally cooling off here—which means mid-sixties, instead of the high 70s and low 80s we had on and off for the last week or more. And hopefully we’ll start seeing fall colors soon. There are a few yellow leaves here and there, but the height of the fall color hasn’t arrived yet.

Your cards are cute! What a fun and useful hobby.

    1. Yes, I love making cards and often make them with someone in mind to send them to. I think your weaving and knitting are wonderful hobbies you have, Lark!

  3. Ooh Michigan- my neck of the woods. 🙂 Hope you guys have an AWESOME trip. Love the dog pic!

It’s finally starting to feel like fall around here this weekend after some unseasonably warm weather last week.

    1. I hope the cooler weather stays around, Greg. Thanks for the good wishes for our trip! I’m really excited about our trip to Michigan. I haven’t been to the Michigan side of Lake Michigan before. I love finding new places to explore.

    1. Yes, Olaf is our bug killer, Jinjer! However, I’m not sure he got the spider, because he tends to eat what he kills…ugh. And yes, I’ll be taking pictures in Michigan and plan to post them next week if all works out!

  4. Enjoy your trip! It sounds wonderful. Love that about Olaf. My cat stares at bugs in absolute horror and I seriously doubt he would pursue a spider. Have a great week!
