Kimberly hosts the Sunday Post each week. I like to take part because it gives me an opportunity to look back at last week and forward to next week in both my personal life and my blog and book life! I also love to see what other people are doing and what books everyone is reading.
Personal life

We put our house in Iowa up for sale on Friday. I think it looked great. Our realtor got great pictures of the house for potential buyers to see. We ended up with eight appointments on Friday and received five offers on the house. Several were for more than the asking price. I was amazed we had so much activity the first day. We chose the offer we thought was best and our house is now under contract! Wow! Friday was a busy day.
Cooking with my daughter

My daughter and I cooked together this week. We made macaroni and cheese which is a recipe from my childhood and that I made while the kids were growing up. It’s one of those recipes I make without a written recipe though I have written it down for my kids to give them the framework. I had my daughter make the macaroni and cheese and just gave advice when she asked. Her mac and cheese came out great. I’ve put my own spin on my mac and cheese through the years. It’s different from what my Mom made and I expect my kids will put their own spin on it, too. So fun to see her excited to make macaroni and cheese!
My daughter also showed me one of her favorite recipes this week. It’s a slow cooker recipe for butter chicken. She found the original recipe online, but has changed it quite a bit to suit her tastes. It’s easy and yummy!
Blog Life
I visited a few blogs this week and read a little. However, I find myself easily distracted by everything happening right now in my personal life!

Congrats on your house, Jan. That must be a relief, and how nice to have so many offers. My daughter and I love to cook together and I’ve already been setting aside new recipes for us to try next time she visits😁

My husband and I are so relieved and happy to have the house sold. We have bought and sold many houses during our marriage and this is the first one that didn’t take several months to sell–and only the second house we made any money on.

Oh wow! How great to have such interest in your house. Congratulations on having sold it so quickly – all your hard work has clearly paid off! I recall tucking into macaroni cheese as a child, but have never made it as an adult. Himself doesn’t like cheese, so even though I have a delicious vegan version, he wouldn’t be interested… Have a great week, Jan.

Thanks, Sarah. We’re very happy about our house. I hadn’t made macaroni and cheese since my kids were young, but this last year I did make it a couple times for my husband and me and my daughters both wanted to learn how I made it.

It’s lovely when you can pass recipes down the generations. Now that we have all turned vegan, there isn’t much opportunity to do that, sadly. Though my daughter and I do swap recipes that we find works:)).

Congratulations on selling your house! The housing market is really hot right now, pretty much everywhere. And what fun to cook with your daughter. I miss cooking with Robin — well, I miss seeing Robin, period. We’re keeping an eye on transmission rates and variants, hoping to feel comfortable enough to travel at some point so we can go visit, once all of the family are fully vaccinated.

Thanks, Lark. I knew the housing market was hot, but I had seen some houses sitting for a couple months in Des Moines so I wasn’t totally sure about our area. I think those houses were for sale during the winter and may have been overpriced. Our realtor did a great job helping us figure out a price.
Even with all the people getting vaccinated there are still so many who aren’t vaccinated and then with the variants as well it’s still nerve wracking to see family or go out in public. One of my sisters-in-law had planned a family reunion for Memorial Day 2020. She postponed it to Labor Day 2021 and we’re really hoping all the family who comes will be vaccinated by then plus a larger proportion of the public.

Yay! I’m glad the sale of your home was quick. Now you can focus on the moving. It will be nice to be closer to your daughter. You got some great books this week.

Thanks, Anne! The house sale is a little bittersweet since we both loved that house, but I think we’re going to love our new house, too!

Congrats on the house sale! The real estate market is crazy here right now and I’m considering putting our rental house up for sale and being done with it. That’s so cool about the macaroni and cheese. I have a few recipes I can make without the written instructions and a reliable macaroni and cheese recipe is a wonderful thing to have. The butter chicken looks absolutely amazing! Have a great week!

Thanks, Katherine. I’ve never had a rental, but knowing people who have had them I know they can be a lot of work. My daughter and I are having so much fun cooking together.

Thank, Victoria! The house sale was amazing. I still can’t quite believe it. I think The Echo Wife will be good though I don’t know if I’m going to get to it before it’s due back at the library.
