Can’t Wait Wednesday is hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings. This is a weekly meme to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read. The books I choose aren’t released yet and usually won’t be published for at least two or three months. So I have a while to wait!
I love finding out about books set to publish in future months and I like to share my excitement about the books. I also like to find out about new books on other people’s blogs and hope they’ll sometimes find something to look forward to on my blog.
I’m excited to read . . .

by Elly Griffiths
Series: Ruth Galloway #13
Published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt
Publishing date: June 29
352 pages
Synopsis: The Night Hawks, a group of metal detectorists, are searching for buried treasure when they find a body on the beach in North Norfolk. At first Nelson thinks that the dead man might be an asylum seeker but he turns out to be a local boy, Jem Taylor, recently released from prison. Ruth is more interested in the treasure, a hoard of Bronze Age weapons. Nelson at first thinks that Taylor’s death is accidental drowning, but a second death suggests murder.
Nelson is called to an apparent murder-suicide of a couple at the isolated Black Dog Farm. Local legend talks of the Black Shuck, a spectral hound that appears to people before they die. Nelson ignores this, even when the owner’s suicide note includes the line, ‘He’s buried in the garden.’ Ruth excavates and finds the body of a giant dog.
All roads lead back to this farm in the middle of nowhere, but the place spells serious danger for anyone who goes near. Ruth doesn’t scare easily. Not until she finds herself at Black Dog Farm …

This is one of my favorite mystery series. Ruth Galloway is such a great character and the mysteries are very well-done.
If you’re interested in this series and haven’t read any of the books you really need to start with the first book in the series. Lots of things happen during this series!
Wow book #13! This does sound like a good series, although not sure I can catch up😁

I’ve listened to some of Elly Griffiths’ Max Mephisto series recently and really enjoyed them so have been wanting to read more of her books. I read the first one in this series ages ago and did enjoy it and this one sounds really good.

I have one or two of the Max Mephisto series, but haven’t read them yet. I’ll have to start that series and I hope you get a chance to read some of Ruth Galloway, too.
