Kimberly hosts the Sunday Post each week. I like to take part because it gives me an opportunity to look back at last week and forward to next week in both my personal life and my blog and book life! I also love to see what other people are doing and what books everyone is reading.
Personal life
Please wear masks! Stay safe & keep others safe!

We had a tiny bit of snow last Sunday, but now we’re getting warmer weather for the next week so we can get our driveway repair finished.
Election & Voting
As I’m sure even people living outside the U.S. know our election is finally almost here. I’m so glad of that, but I’m also afraid we won’t know anything for sure on Tuesday night or maybe not even by next week. And maybe longer.
I hope everyone in the U.S. has already voted or will vote on Monday or Tuesday. I mailed my ballot a couple weeks ago and received confirmation that my county election office has it and that it will be counted. We have signs in our yard urging people to vote. We’ve even donated some money to candidates. I know I have done about all that I can, but I still worry.
I had a stressful week. I know it does no good to worry about something that hasn’t happened yet so I try to tell myself to feel zen. That doesn’t always work. But I’m trying.
Furniture

We got most of the furniture we’re going to try to sell or donate put into our garage so that it’s easy for people to (hopefully) see and haul away.
Does anyone have internet sites they’ve used to sell furniture locally that have worked for them?
Blog Life
It was hard to do much on my blog this week other than publish my posts.
Posted last week
- Sunday Post: Maybe snow today
- Can’t Wait Wednesday: The Postscript Murders by Elly Griffiths
- Connect 5 Friday: Gothic fiction perfect for my Halloween reads
Post for next week

My books
I have found so many good digital books that my library has and I’ve put them on hold and then two or three of them come in at once so that’s kept me busy reading library books. Four of the five books I’m reading or have read in the last couple of weeks are from my library.
What I’m reading
- Midwinter Murder by Agatha Christie
- Christmas at the Island Hotel by Jenny Colgan
What I read
- The Stranger Diaries by Elly Griffiths
- Dance Hall of the Dead by Tony Hillerman
- A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik
Books I got

- The Atrocity Archives by Charles Stross (library, audiobook)
- Midwinter Murder by Agatha Christie (library, ebook)
What have you been up to?
I voted two weeks ago and got confirmation. Its a relief knowing I don’t have to vote in person! I’m nervous too, Jan. Things are so unpredictable that you just never know what will happen. Hope you have a good week😁

I agree it’s a relief to have voted already, Tammy!

The election must be exhausting and fraying – so much hangs on it… Glad you have already managed to vote. I do hope you enjoy The Atrocity Archives – I have really loved this series as it’s quite different and there is a lot of humour, particularly with the earlier books:)). All the best this coming week, Jan!

Thanks, Sarah! I’m glad the early books in Stross’s series have a lot of humor. I need that these days!

Oh, I think we all need some humour right now:).

We voted in September and got confirmation. I drove the ballots to the election office. I have always voted. I should have mentioned voting in my post! I think everyone should vote, even if they don’t agree with my choices. I hope you enjoy Midwinter Murder. Both me in NC and my brother in FL have found the best place to post (and for free) is on Facebook Marketplace. In fact, yesterday I bought a bench for my porch from a FB post.

I agree, Anne. We live in a country where every citizen has the chance to vote so we should all make every effort to vote. Even if they don’t vote for my choices. I’m enjoying Midwinter Murder though I’m distracted so not getting as much reading done as I’d hoped.
My daughter said she thought Facebook Marketplace was a good site to post sale items. Thanks, Anne! It’s good to get that info from someone who uses that site.

The snow is unacceptable this early in the year – but of course I live in the South where we very rarely get snow. Sounds like the move is really gaining traction though I don’t envy you it! And I need that Agatha Christie! Yes I probably have all the stories in other collections but I don’t have them with that cover and I love her short stories so much.

I agree that snow three times in October was a bit much, Katherine. We’re supposed to get to 74 degrees today (Election Day) so that’s really nice! Agatha Christie does know how to write a good short story. I’m enjoying them even though I’m a little distracted today!
