Can’t Wait Wednesday: The Postscript Murders by Elly Griffiths

The Stranger Diaries was a different kind of police procedural. I’m wondering what kind of procedural this book will be.

Can’t Wait Wednesday is hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings. This is a weekly meme to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read. The books I choose aren’t released yet and usually won’t be published for at least two or three months. So I have a while to wait!

I love finding out about books set to publish in future months and I like to share my excitement about the books. I also like to find out about new books on other people’s blogs and hope they’ll sometimes find something to look forward to on my blog.

I’m excited to read . . .

The Postscript Murders

by Elly Griffiths

Series: Harbinder Kaur #2

Published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt

Publishing date: March 2

Genre: Mystery, Police Procedural

336 pages

Synopsis: The death of a ninety-year-old woman with a heart condition should not be suspicious. Detective Sergeant Harbinder Kaur certainly sees nothing out of the ordinary when Peggy’s caretaker, Natalka, begins to recount Peggy Smith’s passing.

But Natalka had a reason to be at the police station: while clearing out Peggy’s flat, she noticed an unusual number of crime novels, all dedicated to Peggy. And each psychological thriller included a mysterious postscript: PS: for PS. When a gunman breaks into the flat to steal a book and its author is found dead shortly thereafter—Detective Kaur begins to think that perhaps there is no such thing as an unsuspicious death after all.

And then things escalate: from an Aberdeen literary festival to the streets of Edinburgh, writers are being targeted. DS Kaur embarks on a road trip across Europe and reckons with how exactly authors can think up such realistic crimes . . .

I just finished The Stranger Diaries (the first book in this series) and I loved it. I’m also a big fan of the Ruth Galloway series by Elly Griffiths so this is a book I’m really looking forward to!

Author: Jan

I love to read--especially mysteries, science fiction and fantasy. I also love blogging, photography, gardening, playing Mah Jonng, reading with a cat on my lap, throwing a ball for a dog, creating cards to send to family and friends, reading book blogs, using my computer.

  1. One of these days I really will read something by Elly Griffiths! This sounds like something I would enjoy. I may have the first book on my TBR shelf, now that I think about it. I’ll have to look. Thank you for sharing! I hope you enjoy this one when you read it!

  2. I really need to read more Elly Griffiths and I’ve been really intrigued by this series. I want to pick up the first one and this one seems even better!

  3. I loved this one and The Stranger Diaries. While I’ve enjoyed the Ruth Galloway series, I think this one is fast over-taking it for the amount of fun – there is more humour, for starters, which is just what I need:)).
