Sunday Post: On to Indiana

weekly meme to talk about books and a little about our personal lives

Sunday-Post

Kimberly hosts the Sunday Post each week. I like to take part because it gives me an opportunity to look back at last week and forward to next week in both my personal life and my blog and book life! I also love to see what other people are doing and what books everyone is reading.

Personal life

Cooler weather at night and nice sunny days. I love the fall weather.

Illinois

I was in Illinois all week with one of my daughters since we got new carpet in our Iowa house. I brought the cats and we stayed with my daughter because the carpet took several days to complete. Olaf had great fun exploring and decided to go under the above cabinet. I was amazed he could fit under it and that he was able to get back out without help!

Indiana

Since we were close to Indiana my husband and I drove there to visit our younger daughter and see a house that’s already built that will look similar to the house we’re having built. We were able to measure a few rooms and get an idea how our furniture will fit.

We are very impressed with how beautiful the leaves are right now in Indiana. My daughter has three trees in her yard which have turned yellow and orange. Beautiful!

Our daughter will be gone for a few days so we’re staying to take care of her dogs while she’s gone. It’s nice to take a break from our cleaning and sorting and purging at our house!

I’m loving seeing my daughters and I feel somewhat safer in Illinois and Indiana since they have mask mandates and Iowa doesn’t.

Blog Life

I caught up for about a day with comments, but am behind again! I visited a number of blogs and caught up a bit with some of my blogging friends. It’s always nice to see how you all are doing during these trying times. I hope everyone is staying safe.

I love to read--especially mysteries, science fiction and fantasy. I also love blogging, photography, gardening, playing Mah Jonng, reading with a cat on my lap, throwing a ball for a dog, creating cards to send to family and friends, reading book blogs, using my computer.

  1. It’s amazing what tiny spaces cats can get into! Tasha used to go under my dresser all the time, and the space was even smaller. (But then, so was she.) It’s good you had somewhere to go with the cats; I doubt they would have enjoyed the re-carpeting process. I’m glad you got to spend some time with your daughter, too.

Love the photo of the fall foliage! The leaves aren’t turning colors here, much… mostly just drying up and falling off. Summer was hot and very dry, until late summer when we got hit with a lot of rain. I think it affected the trees. I miss the beautiful yellow of the tulip poplars.

    1. I was worried at first when Olaf went under the cabinet and I could just see his tail, but he was happy under there and then got himself turned around and peeked out. Stayed like that for quite awhile. I’ve been having a lot of fun with our daughters. So nice to see them in person.

Our fall foliage wasn’t looking very pretty in Iowa either. We’ve had a lot of dry weather there and I think that does affect the foliage colors.

    1. I saw Spellbinder and thought it sounded good before I realized it was a Prime book so when I found out it was free this month I pounced on it! I think I’ll going to start Cold Street today. I’ve enjoyed reading that series this month.

  2. It’s great you are getting to see your daughters and get more information about things for your new home. I also feel safer with a mask mandate but unfortunately, even when there is one people don’t always follow it. I love this fall weather and the colors that are starting to be so beautiful. Enjoy your new reads!

    1. Thanks, Anne! It’s been so great to see my daughters and seeing a similar home to what ours will look like was great. I agree that not everyone wears a mask even when it’s required, but it’s more than in Iowa. However, my husband and I don’t go out many places these days so that helps. And the fall weather is so nice, isn’t it? I love that we live somewhere where we see a definite change of seasons.

  3. I love the colour of those leaves! So pretty – I love this time of year!
Your kitty is gorgeous! I swear cats have the properties of a liquid (as long as they can fit their head through!)

    1. Fall is such a wonderful time of the year! And yes, cats seem to get into the smallest spaces. Hard to find them sometimes if they’re really trying to hide.

  4. I’m always amazed with how little cats can make themselves! We have a mask mandate in the city that we live in at the moment and it’s pretty well enforced with I like. Definitely makes me feel a bit safer. You’ve got some great books! I just finished Murder on Cold Street and have Death in the Family on my shelf. It looks so good. Hope you have a great week.
