Can’t-Wait Wednesday: Lake Silence by Anne Bishop

I used to take part in Waiting on Wednesday hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. I’ve decided to begin participating again, but with Can’t-Wait Wednesday hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings since the Breaking the Spine blog is no longer active.

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they’re books that aren’t released yet. I love finding out about books which will publish in future months and I like to share my excitement about the books. I also like to find out about new books on other people’s blogs and hope they’ll sometimes find something to look forward to on my blog.

I’m looking forward to . . .

. . . reading a new book set in the world of the Others, but with new characters. I’ve read all the books set in this world and love them. I want to see what Anne Bishop has come up with in this book and find out more about the Others. Plus this is a great cover!

Synopsis: Human laws do not apply in the territory controlled by the Others–vampires, shapeshifters, and paranormal beings even more deadly. And this is a fact that humans should never, ever forget . . .

After her divorce, Vicki DeVine took over a rustic resort near Lake Silence, in a human town that is not human controlled. Towns like Vicki’s have no distance from the Others, the dominant predators that rule most of the land and all of the water throughout the world. And when a place has no boundaries, you never really know what’s out there watching you.

Vicki was hoping to find a new career and a new life. But when her lodger, Aggie Crowe–one of the shapeshifting Others–discovers a dead body, Vicki finds trouble instead. The detectives want to pin the man’s death on her, despite the evidence that nothing human could have killed the victim. As Vicki and her friends search for answers, things get dangerous–and it’ll take everything they have to stay alive.
