This is a great meme to take part in every week and I thank Kimba for hosting it!
I like this meme because it gives me an opportunity to take a look back at last week and forward to next week in both my personal life and my blog and book life! I also like to see what other people are doing and what books everyone is reading.
Last Week–home and blog
Memorial Day weekend
My daughter, sister-in-law and I drove to eastern Iowa for the Memorial Day weekend. My father-in-law lives there as well as a few other relatives and others came for the weekend including my husband who is finishing up work before he joins me in Iowa. Only about three more weeks before he arrives. I’m really looking forward to him getting here.
We had a barbecue, took dogs for walks and worked on a jigsaw puzzle during rainy periods and at night. It was a bookstore puzzle!
A busy week
My sister-in-law and I were pretty busy all week. We’re having a great time together. One day we went to a craft store which has walk-in craft projects so we both tried fused glass projects. We pick them up next week so I’m looking forward to seeing how they turn out.
We stopped by one of my favorite bookstores and I found some children’s books for nieces and nephews, a book of music for my husband and a coloring book featuring cats in Paris for myself. So much fun to browse in the store and they have a mystery book club once a month. I’m hoping to attend this month.
We also went to the Farmer’s Market on Saturday morning. That was lots of fun, but it was very busy downtown as well as very sunny and warm! There was a half marathon and 5K race going on so it was hard to find a way out of downtown. We got a couple of herb plants, some maple syrup and some delicious strawberries.
We had some fun dinners and lunches, visited a winery and just enjoyed the nice weather.
My brother is driving here from Iowa and should arrive by Monday so it’ll be great to see him. I don’t know how long they’ll stay after that, but it’s fun to have house guests.
The blog
I’ve had some internet issues the last few days so my Sunday Post wasn’t completed until late Sunday morning!
Because I was so busy with activities this week I didn’t do much reading or blogging. I hope to get back on track next week!

Free Sync Audio books
Sync is back again for the summer (May 5 – Aug 17). Sync is a program which provides two free young adult audiobook downloads each week. Each set of books are only available for one week.
The Sync books available next week (June 9 — 16):
- I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson ; Read by Julia Whelan, Jesse Bernstein
- Zac and Mia by A.J. Betts; Read by Kristin Condon, Nicholas Mondelli
To listen to these books you must download Overdrive Media Console. It is available free to download at the Sync site.
Note: Some of the books have international restrictions, but some are available even if you live outside the U.S.
Next Week–home & blog
My brother is arriving to stay a few days before he and my sister-in-law return to Oregon. I’m looking forward to seeing him and having them both here for a few more days. We had hoped they might go camping with my daughters and me next weekend, but I don’t know that they will stay that long. I may not go camping either since the temps next weekend are forecast for the mid-90’s . . . and only 70 at night! I’m used to camping in the mountains where it does cool down at night and the humidity is low.
I hope to resolve my internet issues plus finish books, reviews and posts!

What did you do last week? What books did you collect? What are you planning?
Sounds like a busy, fun week! I hope the three weeks passes quickly so your husband can join you! It’s so hard being separated like that. We had to do it for about six months. I don’t know how families in the military cope with it. Hope you have a fantastic week and enjoy your new reads!

I’ve heard nothing but wonderful things about Every Heart a Doorway so I hope you enjoy. I’m thinking of trying I’ll Give You the Sun as a sync book I just could not get into it at all but maybe hearing it will prove a better fit.

I’m excited to get to Every Heart a Doorway. Hope I can do it soon though I have four or five other books I need to read soon. Sometimes it helps to listen to a book than trying to read it especially if the narrator is good.

I listened to Every Heart a Doorway recently and enjoyed it. Sounds like you had a fun time with family last weekend. I have no patience for puzzles, but love that it was a bookstore. Have a wonderful week!!

I don’t do puzzles very often, but we all really enjoyed doing this one. It helped that it rained some of the time. When I bought the puzzle I bought it because it was a bookstore and the finished product was even better than the picture on the box!

Bookstore book clubs always sound so fun, but I haven’t seen any in my area that read books I’m interested in. Lucky that you’ve got a mystery book club so close to you! I just read Every Heart a Doorway last week and I really loved it, I hope you enjoy it too.
