Sunday Post: Nov 8

Sunday-PostThe Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

I like this meme because it gives me an opportunity to take a look back at last week and forward to next week in both my personal life and my blog and book life! I also like to see what other people are doing and what books everyone is reading. This is a great meme to take part in every week and I thank Kimba for hosting it!

Last Week–home and blog

November already?
My hibiscus–an indoor plant again

It’s November, but it sure didn’t feel like it most of this week. Our warmest day was Friday and it was almost 80 degrees. Saturday it started out warm, but then the temps dropped to mid-fifties with rain. I’m glad of that. Ready for cooler weather for next week.

It’s been a warm fall here with frost only one night so far this fall. Roses are still blooming outside! I brought my hibiscus inside a couple weeks ago and it has bloomed several times. And my Christmas cactus is blooming already, too–a little early!

Fall cleaning

My husband and I are doing fall cleaning–sorting through things and getting rid of  what we no longer use or need. This week it was sorting through clothes. Always good to lighten the load.

What we’re watching

Elementary is back and we really enjoyed that this week. Also thought Big Bang Theory was very good this week. It was funny and bittersweet–poor Sheldon.

I completed quite a few posts this week. That was fun! Lots of stuff scheduled next week, too, since Ho-Ho-Ho Read-a-Thon begins and Sci-Fi Month continues.

“Our Hopes and Dreams for TV’s Next Trek” from B&N Sci-Fi & Fantasy Blog

  • CBS TV has announced a new Trek series coming in January 2017. So far there isn’t much information about the series, but the B&N blog post talks about various options for the series.

Next Week–home & blog

Another busy week. We’re continuing to clean out stuff. Lots to do before we leave for Thanksgiving.

Also a busy month with the blog. I’m really enjoying Sci-Fi Month. The book some of us are reading for the Read Along–The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet–is so much fun to read. It’s hard to stop at the end of the week’s reading! And I’m looking forward to the Ho-Ho-Ho Read-a-Thon and some Christmas reading.

What did you do last week? What books did you collect? What are you planning?

Author: Jan

I love to read--especially mysteries, science fiction and fantasy. I also love blogging, photography, gardening, playing Mah Jonng, reading with a cat on my lap, throwing a ball for a dog, creating cards to send to family and friends, reading book blogs, using my computer.

  1. I’m ready for some cooler weather as well. It had been in the 70’s most of last week. Yesterday was in the upper 50’s which was better.

I’m pretty excited for the new Trek series as well! Can’t wait to see what they’ll do with this one.

  2. I’m going to check out Santa 365. That cover has me all kinds of curious.
The weather was weird here this week too. In the high 80s and very muggy. Rain came through last night and it’s chillier today, drizzly and windy.

    1. We’re getting rain here, too. And much cooler than last week. Yay! I’ve had the first book in the mystery series that Santa 365 is part of. I’m hoping reading this book will jump start my reading of the first book!

  3. I’m feeling the urge to do another purge of my closest. I did one after reading The Magic Art of Tidying Up and got rid of 2 huge leaf bags worth of stuff but you can’t really tell the difference! I have yet to watch the season finale from last season of Elementary but now that I have the premiere I’m looking forward to sitting down and watching it! Have a great week and enjoy your cleaning out!

    1. I did a big purge when we moved here three years ago, but saved some clothes out of sentiment. This time I got rid of them! The cleaning out is good. Now we just have to get all the stuff to Goodwill or Salvation Army.

I hope you like Elementary when you watch, Katherine. I’m looking forward to see where it’s going this year.

  4. It’s not too cold here either, although it does look fall outside. I really should do soem fall cleaning as well, I have lots of stuff to sort through and my clothing could use some sorting as well. I am glad you’re enjoying sci-fi month, I haven’t made the time to visit a lot of posts yet, maybe next week. I hope you’ll have a great week!

    1. Our leaves have turned color and dried up and are falling now so even though the weather wasn’t very cool it did look like fall!

  5. I love Elementary. Hmm, I should clean out my closets. Good idea. Love the weather you are having. We were warm at the beginning of the week..but have dipped down to normal temps. Have a lovely week!

  6. I’ve been enjoying reading the Angry Planet readalong posts. May have to give that one a try! And we had our first frost this morning…

Looking forward to this next week of SciFi. should be fun! The Big Sleep should be a fun listen, I’ve never read that one…

    1. I think you’d like Angry Planet, Greg. And I’m really surprised you haven’t had frost there before this. Our one frost was back around Columbus Day.

  7. Your roses are still blooming? Wow. It’s been warm here but I don’t think it’s been that warm.

I should clean out my closets too, hmm.

I’m glad you’re having fun with sci fi month. 🙂

  8. I’ve been reading a few posts talking about the heat there. I guess… nearly winter there, so a bit strange.

I’m keen for Elementary to return to our screens… also to catch up on Big Bang Theory as I assume we’re a bit behind.

    1. It always surprises me when I think about Christmas in Australia at the beginning of summer! I hope you get the latest Elementary and Big Bang Theory soon, Deborah.

    1. I hope I continue with my fall cleaning, Jessica. I have some boxes I need to go through, too. And my husband says I could get rid of some of my kitchen stuff. I don’t want to do that…lol

  9. Oh cool! I didn’t know there was going to be a new Trek series next year 😀 SO many good things coming out on tv next year I can’t wait!
