The Sleeping Life by Andrea K. Höst

Series: Eferum #2

Publication Date: Late 2015

Genre: Fantasy

Synopsis (from Goodreads): Fallon DeVries has a sister who lives only in his mind. Paying the price of magic gone wrong, Aurienne is trapped watching a world she cannot touch, only able to communicate with her brother while he sleeps.

And it’s slowly killing him.

Fallon and Auri’s best chance of untangling their lives is to win the help of a mage of unparalleled ability. But how can they ask for help when the warped spell prevents him from speaking?

Besides, Rennyn Claire – once the most powerful mage in the world – is a shadow of her former self: ill, injured and unlikely to recover unless she can hunt down the monster who once tried to make her his slave. But that Wicked Uncle is nowhere to be found, and other dangers, once slumbering dormant, are stirring…

Why I want this book:

  • I love the cover.
  • Andrea K. Höst is one of my favorite authors.
  • I read the first book–Stained Glass Monsters–earlier this year. And I want to know what happens next in this world!
  • This second book sounds very good.

  1. I was drawn in by this cover, and expecting more of a sleeping beauty type story. You know I’m a sucker for a fairy tale retold! But this book sounds kind of sad/depressing, so I’ll be waiting to hear what you say about it before I read. Thanks!!

    1. Yes, it does look a little like a Sleeping Beauty type book. I didn’t really think that when I saw the cover, because I read the first book in the series. It’s a beautiful cover. Ms. Host is one of my favorite authors. The first book was a little dark, but good and I’m interested to see where this book goes. I’ll let you know if I think you’ll like it. I know you’d like a few of her others. She writes great books with some romance in them!
