2014 books I meant to read . . .

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme I take part in when I can. It’s a great meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish blog. Every week a new topic is presented. It’s not only fun to think about my list, but to read what other people come up with!

This week we talk about the 2014 releases we meant to read, but didn’t get to. These are books I’ve already got, but haven’t read yet. It was really easy to come up with 10 books. The hard part was to trim the list…lol.

1. Cress by Marissa Meyer–This is the third book in The Lunar Chronicles series. I really liked the first two books.

2. The Future Falls by Tanya Huff–This is also the third book in a series–The Gale Women series. Again, I like this series a lot and Tanya Huff is one of my favorite authors.

3. Magic Breaks by Ilona Andrews–Another series I love. This is the seventh in this series.

4. The Winter Long by Seanan McGuire–The eighth book in one of my favorite series.

5. Lock In by John Scalzi–The first book in a new series, but by a favorite author and it has received great reviews.

6. Dirty Magic by Jaye Wells–The first book in a new urban fantasy series.

7. The Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison–This has a great cover and sounds like a good book.

8. The Bloodbound by Erin Lindsey–The first in a new series. Sounds good.

9. The Ophelia Prophecy by Sharon Lynn Fisher–This is a science fiction romance. I don’t see too many in this genre.

10. Unhinged by A. G. Howard–I listened to the first book in this series and started the second book, but never finished.  I was enjoying it, but had other books to read.

What 2014 books did you mean to read, but not get to?

Author: Jan

I love to read--especially mysteries, science fiction and fantasy. I also love blogging, photography, gardening, playing Mah Jonng, reading with a cat on my lap, throwing a ball for a dog, creating cards to send to family and friends, reading book blogs, using my computer.

  1. I’m hoping to get to The Lunar Chronicle series this year. It looks like a great series. Ilona Andrews and John Scalzi are both authors I’d like to try. Great list!

  2. Glad to see I’m not the only one who hasn’t read Magic Breaks yet! I’m holding out until the paperback gets released. I need all my books to look the same for the series! 😛 Great list!

  3. Lots of people making it a goal to read more backlist books/clear their shelves this year, which is good! Dirty Magic was on my list too – I snuck that one in just before the new year 😀 I also binge read book 2 just in time for book 3 to come out.

  4. I loved Cress, and can’t wait for Winter! (I’m ambivalent about Fairest; it will probably be good but I don’t like reading villains’ stories.) As for the others, I’ve heard so many good things about The Goblin Emperor that I really should read it, and some of the others are in series I’ve also got on my “someday” list. Have fun reading these this year!

  5. Though most of the reads I didn’t get to last year weren’t 2014 releases, I do have an awful lot of series I wish I had finished up. I guess it’ll have to be in 2015 instead.

    Happy reading!

  6. I meant to read both Cress and The Bloodbound, too. Sometimes I find it frustrating how difficult it can be to read the books I already own while juggling new releases, so in 2015 I’m trying to make the books I already own a priority. Thankfully I own both of those titles so there’s no reason for me to miss ’em this year. 😉
