Sunday Post: Dec 21

The Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

I like this meme because it gives me an opportunity to take a look back at last week and forward to next week in both my personal life and my blog and book life! I also like to see what other people are doing and what books everyone is reading. This is a great meme to take part in every week and I thank Kimba for hosting it!

Last Week

Home & blog

Both my husband and I were busy. He’s really busy at work now, but we also got a lot done around the house before we left for Iowa on Saturday. I finished up my Christmas cards and sent them plus getting a package finally sent to my brother and sister-in-law! We arrived in Iowa in time for lunch and then did a little shopping in some cute little antique stores. We found some wonderful old maps and had fun browsing. In the evening we went to a Christmas show which was lots of fun.

Merry Christmas to all of you who celebrate Christmas!

Christmas is almost here! One of my favorite times of the year. I love all the lights, listening to Christmas music (but not in the malls), baking cookies, planning Christmas dinner. And best of all, our family being together. This year our son is spending with his girlfriend’s family, but they’re happy and we saw him last week. Even so we will miss him. We’re with our younger daughter at her new home in Iowa and we’re going to have a grand time!

Our older daughter arrives early in the week and she’s planning the Christmas meal this year. We also plan to see the new movie Into the Woods on Christmas Day. It’s one of our favorite musicals and we have a family tradition of going to a movie on Christmas Day so this movie is perfect!

What books did you collect last week? What are you planning next week?

Author: Jan

I love to read--especially mysteries, science fiction and fantasy. I also love blogging, photography, gardening, playing Mah Jonng, reading with a cat on my lap, throwing a ball for a dog, creating cards to send to family and friends, reading book blogs, using my computer.

  1. Merry Christmas! Enjoy the holiday and the family time- I think seeing a movie on Christmas Day souds neat.

Nice review of Heinlein. I liked your comment about his and Norton’s books being the HP of your youth- I often feel the same. Norton in particular for me, I read a TON of her books growing up and they were a huge part of my life. And those old covers are the best!

    1. Thanks, Greg! We all really enjoy a movie before Christmas dinner.

I agree about Norton. I loved her books growing up. And the old covers are so much fun to see.

  2. It sounds like you are having fun. I love the little anitique shops! Have a wonderful Christmas:)
I was planning on going to a movie Christmas Day too. Starting to come down with a little something, hopefully a quick cold, but will have to wait and see. As long as my son and I spend it together it will be great.

    1. Thanks, Laura! We’ve been having so much fun. Drove around and saw beautiful Christmas lights last night. Going to browse in some more shops today.

I hope you’re feeling better by now, Laura–that it was a quick cold. And you’re right the important thing is when you can be together with your loved ones.

  3. Merry Christmas! It’s funny, I was just asking my husband the other day if a lot of people like to go to the movies on Christmas Day – didn’t know it was a tradition for a lot of families!

    1. Thanks, Mogsy! We’ve seen some great movies at Christmas and it is fun to talk about later. One of our best movies was seeing True Grit (with Jeff Bridges). We all loved that movie (even our son who often wants to see a different movie than the rest of us!)
