Currently reading

I’m still reading the same books I was reading last week. Just not enough time to read very much.

I’m still listening to the audiobook and enjoying the it a lot.

Dark Run by Mike Brooks

Narrator: Damian Lynch

Keiko #1

Science Fiction, space opera

The Keiko is a ship of smugglers, soldiers of fortune and adventurers, travelling Earth’s colony planets searching for the next job. And nobody talks about their past.

But when a face from Captain Ichabod Drift’s former life send them on a run to Old Earth, all the rules change.

Trust will be broken, and blood will be spilled.

I’m close to finishing this book and it’s a good one!

On Her Majesty’s Frightfully Secret Service by Rhys Bowen

Her Royal Spyness #11

Historical Mystery–1930’s Ireland, England and Italy

When royal sleuth Georgie Rannoch receives a letter from her dearest friend Belinda, who’s in an Italian villa awaiting the birth of her illegitimate baby, she yearns to run to her side. If only she could find a way to get there! But then opportunity presents itself in a most unexpected way—her cousin the queen asks her to attend a house party in the Italian Lake Country. The Prince of Wales AND the dreadful Mrs. Simpson have been invited, and Her Majesty is anxious to thwart a possible secret wedding.

Recently finished

I finished this earlier in July. It takes place after WWII during the Cold War. The main character is trying to find Russian spies within the British intelligence services. The third book in the series is coming in October.

A Question of Inheritance by Elizabeth Edmondson

Narrator: Michael Page

Historical Mystery–England, 1953

December 1953

Hugo Hawksworth is on the tail of rogue Cold War agents at a top-secret government facility, while back home at Selchester Castle they’re awaiting the arrival of the new Earl—an American, the long-lost son of the murdered Lord Selchester.

The town of Selchester, rich in scandal and gossip, is unsure what to make of the Earl or his teenage daughters, but they know that his sharp-tongued half-sister, Lady Sonia, furious at being deprived of her inheritance, won’t be a merry guest over Christmas.

The new Lord Selchester can cope with the strangeness of English country life, but he hadn’t expected stolen paintings—or a body in the hothouse.

What’s the link between Hugo’s investigations and the suspicious goings-on in the town and at the Castle? And will he and his allies get to the heart of the mystery before the murderer gets to them?

Reading next

I had to take Called to Justice by Edith Maxwell back to the library because someone else put the book on hold. The nerve of them! So I’ve put the book on hold again and hope to get it back in a few weeks.

A Dragon of a Different Color by Rachel Aaron

Heartstriker #4

Urban Fantasy

To save his family from his tyrannical mother, Julius had to step on a lot of tails. That doesn’t win a Nice Dragon many friends, but just when he thinks he’s starting to make progress, a new threat arrives.

Turns out, things can get worse. Heartstriker hasn’t begun to pay for its secrets, and the dragons of China are here to collect. When the Golden Emperor demands his surrender, Julius will have to choose between loyalty to the sister who’s always watched over him and preserving the clan he gave everything to protect.

Science fiction, space opera and a mystery! Oh, yes!

The Cold Between by Elizabeth Bonesteel

Central Corps #1

Science Fiction, Space Opera, Mystery

She knows Trey is innocent—he was with her when Danny was killed. So who is the real killer and why are the cops framing an innocent man?

While retracing Danny’s last hours, they discover that his death may be tied to a mystery from the past: the destruction of a Central Corps starship at a wormhole near Volhynia. For twenty-five years, Central Gov has been lying about the tragedy, even willing to go to war with the outlaw tribe PSI to protect their secrets.

With the authorities closing in, Elena and Trey head to the wormhole, certain they’ll find answers on the other side. But the truth that awaits them is far more terrifying than they ever imagined—a conspiracy deep within Central Gov that threatens all of human civilization throughout the inhabited reaches of the galaxy . . . and beyond.
