Favorite urban fantasies since 2015

September 26, 2017 2017, Tell Me Something Tuesday 8

Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly discussion post on Rainy Day Ramblings where a wide range of topics from books to blogging are discussed. This week we’re talking about our Favorite Urban Fantasies. I don’t read as many urban fantasies as I did a few years ago, but I still have a few I’m enjoying. Since I’ve written posts about urban fantasies in the past this time I’m talking about my favorites since 2015. One Good Dragon Deserves Another by Rachel Aaron Series: Heartstrikers #2 This is a self-published series and shows that an author can self-publish quality books and I hope make some money doing it. Such a fun series! I… Read more »

The rest of the short reviews from 2015

February 12, 2016 2015, A-, Audiobook Challenge, Audiobooks, B, B+, book rating, C+, Goodreads, New Author Challenge, Reading Challenges, reviews, TBR Pile 2

I’ve finally finished all my reviews for 2015 with these last six shorts. Three of these are short stories, one is a book of short stories and the other two are novels. I have two science fiction, three fantasies and one contemporary fiction. These are very short snippets of reviews…lol. At least I have a post about them which makes me happy! “Earth and Fire” & Earth 2788 by Janet Edwards “Earth and Fire” is a prequel novella. It’s a story about Jarra when she learns to fly a plane (takes place before the trilogy Ms. Edwards wrote). I enjoyed the glimpse into Jarra’s life before the books began. Grade:… Read more »

August books on my radar . . .

August books on my radar . . .

August 5, 2014 2014, Books on my radar 10

Each month I write about the books I’ve noticed and think might be good. Sometimes they’re from favorite authors and other times by a new author I might try. I don’t buy all the books (not during the month they’re released at least)–since I already have way too many books to read and sometimes these new books have high prices 🙁 But the list I make each month helps me not forget books. The Goodreads links help me keep track of these books and I hope people reading my post may find some new books, too! Note: This post is almost a week late. I had it almost complete last… Read more »

I own the most books from these authors…

July 29, 2014 2014, Top Ten Tuesday 9

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme which I take part in occasionally. It’s a great meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish blog. Every week a new topic is presented. It’s not only fun to think about my list, but to read what other people come up with! This week we write about the ten authors I own the most books from. I have broken the authors down by e-books, audio books and paper books. When I look at my list several things occur to me: Of course, one of the reasons I have so many books by certain authors is that they’ve written a lot of books…. Read more »

The characters I would want on a deserted island …

July 22, 2014 2014, Top Ten Tuesday 8

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme which I take part in occasionally. It’s a great meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish blog. Every week a new topic is presented. It’s not only fun to think about my list, but to read what other people come up with! The topic this week is the characters I would want with me on a deserted island. At first I was thinking “desert” island and so I thought of characters who live in deserts! My first thought was of the book Dune by Frank Herbert which I read many years ago, but which sticks with me. Then I realized it was… Read more »

Ten New Books for Summer 2013

June 18, 2013 2013, Top Ten Tuesday 0

I published this and then realized I forgot to add a shout out and link to The Broke and Bookish blog who sponsors this weekly meme. Top Ten Tuesdays have a new topic each week asking each blogger to write about their top ten favorites for that topic. This week was the top ten books on our summer TBR list. I interpreted this as the top ten books published this summer I’m most excited about.   June books Trail of Dead by Melissa F. Olson…this is book 2 of the Scarlett Bernard series. I read and enjoyed the first book in the series–Dead Spots–and reviewed it in May. Shapeshifted by… Read more »
