Sunday Post: November 27

November 27, 2016 2016, Sunday Post 6

Sunday-Post

This is a great meme to take part in every week and I thank Kimba for hosting it!

I like this meme because it gives me an opportunity to take a look back at last week and forward to next week in both my personal life and my blog and book life! I also like to see what other people are doing and what books everyone is reading.

Home and Blog

I’ve been absent from my blog for awhile. I had too many things going on and just couldn’t concentrate on my blog much for a few weeks. I’m hoping to do more blogging and also catch up on what other people are blogging about, too. I’ve missed you all!

I’m not promising too much though since the Christmas season is starting. I love Christmas and hope to make cookies and bread and I still have some Christmas cards to make and then send out. Our children are coming to spend Christmas with us and I’m excited about our first Christmas in this house.

Thanksgiving
Some of the under 50 crowd at our Thanksgiving!

Some of the under 50 crowd at our Thanksgiving!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving. It was the 50th Thanksgiving celebration my father-in-law (and mother-in-law when she was alive) had hosted. Almost 100 people attended and it was wonderful to catch up with family, enjoy all the activities and traditions and to see new babies who were born this year. (Two of the babies were born on the same day to two sisters!)

It was also time for me to reflect on all the things I am grateful for this year: my husband, my three children, our large extended family, our retirement and move to Iowa. And especially for my husband and I being uninjured when we struck a deer with our car this fall. And most especially for my husband–although he has cancer–the cancer it is treatable, he has wonderful doctors, a great attitude and a good prognosis.

Blogging

I plan to do more posts and more blog reading, just not sure what and when yet. My husband has chemotherapy treatments at the end of the week so I’m playing it by ear. I have read some good books these past few weeks. Reading is always my solace when I can’t do other things.

My books

What did you do last week? What books did you collect? What are you planning?

What a wonderful Thanksgiving:)). We don’t have the custom here, but I really like the idea that we take time to list the things to be grateful for in our lives. I very much hope your husband’s treatment continues to go well and that you have a great week getting ready for Christmas. /

Thanksgiving is really nice and has been a huge family time with my husband’s family. My daughter has taken charge of planning everything and she really enjoys it. And it is a time to think of our blessings.

Every other Thanksgiving tends to be a big one and this was the largest, I think. Because it was number 50 perhaps. The younger generation is the most adamant about keeping it going…lol.

Wonderful Thanksgiving you had! Hope your husband is feeling well this week.
I love Elly Griffiths so hope you enjoy those books you have there by her. Did you mean to say Among the Departed by Vicki Delany (which I want to read) or does Ms. Griffiths have a book out I don’t know about? Death at the Fair, yay, I’m hoping to get that sometime soon since I’m caught up in the series now. Anyway, good titles and good week for you, so hope the next one is also a nice one 🙂

Thanks! And yes, you’re right, Rita. It is by Vicky Delany. Meant to be The Janus Stone by Elly Griffiths! I am enjoying the Elly Griffiths books a lot. I’m enjoying Death at the Fair, too.
