Sunday Post: More Autumn Rain

October 15, 2017 2017, Sunday Post 6

Sunday-Post

Kimberly hosts the Sunday Post each week. I like to take part because it gives me an opportunity to look back at last week and forward to next week in both my personal life and my blog and book life! I also love to see what other people are doing and what books everyone is reading.

Home

My daughter is out-of-town again this weekend so we’re watching her dogs and, of course, we had heavy rain and thunderstorms again on Saturday! Almost an inch of rain so the dogs didn’t go outside very much on Saturday. More mud, but I admit I don’t mind too much as I enjoy the dogs.

It was only 70 degrees, but very humid so I’m glad that on Sunday it’s only supposed to be a high of 57 degrees and a low of 39 degrees Sunday night. However, I have to remember to move the houseplants back inside today. We’re hoping to get all the bulbs I ordered planted next week.

Television

We finished watching Ken Burns’ Vietnam. Very intense, but very good. We watched the final game between the Chicago Cubs and the Washington Nationals. It was a great game and the Cubs ended up winning. We enjoy watching Stephen Colbert on The Late Show. We TiVo it and watch it the next day! We record most of our shows and watch them later.

Blog

I did a little blogging. I’m still having trouble reviewing books. I love reading the books, but I’ve lost my enthusiasm for writing reviews. Can I have a book blog if I don’t review books??? I don’t know. I still love seeing what other people are reading and reviewing and love to comment on their blogs.

I’m also excited that Kimberly is hosting the HoHoHo Readathon again this year and have already signed up for it. Fall is one of my favorite times of the year. It has so many things I love: beautiful leaves, cooler weather, a sense of exciting things coming–Thanksgiving, snow, Christmas! And holiday books!

That does seem very steamy with all the rain – we are also having a warm spell – mid-60s, which is spookily warm for England in October. I’m all for it – anything to keep the winter at bay. The dogs sound like fun.

As for not feeling like writing reviews – there’s nothing to stop you still talking about the books you’ve bought and one reviewer (I can’t recall who it is) found she went through a phase where she simply stopped wanting to write reviews so she bulletpointed the things she like and the things she didn’t and wrote a concluding sentence… Even if you decide not to do that, I don’t see why you can’t still have a book blog – you can still discuss books:). Thank you for swinging by – and many, many thanks for buying my book – I hope you enjoy it!

I watched the first episode of The Vietnam War series. I thought it was really interesting and I learned a lot. I didn’t get the chance to watch the rest of it so I’m going to wait till my library gets the DVD set.

I feel your pain when it comes to writing book reviews. I don’t really enjoy writing book reviews anymore. I write brief snippets about the books I read for Sunday Post but other than that I haven’t written anything in awhile. I may try participating in Top Ten Tuesday again and find other ways to write about books without doing a full review. I hope you find something to write about that you enjoy too.

    Have a great week!

Writing reviews is not as much fun as it once was…LOL. I take notes while I’m reading, and sometimes I start the review in a Word doc when I’m halfway through the book, and then fill in the rest when I’m finished. If I wait to write, it’s like having a deadline looming, which reminds me of work. LOL.

I hope you find what works best for you…as yes, reviews are part of blogging, even when we don’t feel like writing them. Sigh.

Thanks for sharing…and for visiting my blog. Have a great week!

You can definitely have. Book blog is not only about book reviews in my opinion. You can write about book relating stuff. Anyway, I hope you enjoy your books this week. Happy reading and have a wonderful week. 😁❤️
